Tony Backert of Hilliard Lyons named to 2018 Financial Times 401 top retirement plan advisers

Hilliard Lyons is pleased to announce that Tony Backert has been named to the 2018 edition of the Financial Times 401 Top Retirement Plan Advisers. The list recognizes the top financial advisers who specialize in serving defined contribution (DC) retirement plans.

This is the fourth annual FT 401 list, produced independently by the Financial Times in collaboration with Ignites Research, a subsidiary that provides business intelligence on asset management. This is also the fourth time that Mr. Backert, a Wealth Advisor and Senior Vice President based in Hilliard Lyons’ Hurstbourne branch in Louisville, was named to this prestigious list – the only professional in Kentucky named all four years.

Financial advisers from across the United States applied for consideration, having met a set of minimum requirements. Applicants were then graded on six criteria: (1) DC assets under management; (2) DC plan growth rate; (3) specialization in DC plans; (4) years of experience; (5) advanced industry credentials; and (6) compliance record. Neither advisors nor their firms pay a fee to Financial Times to be included in the FT 401.

The final FT 401 represents an impressive cohort of elite advisers: the “average” adviser in this year’s FT 401 has 20 years of experience advising DC plans and advises $1.26 billion in DC plan assets. The FT 401 advisers hail from 38 states and Washington, D.C., and DC plans on average account for 81% of their practices’ total assets.

This honor is not indicative of the advisor’s future performance. Neither advisors nor their parent firms pay a fee to the Financial Times to be included in the FT 401.
