Mr. Rorke joined Hilliard Lyons in December of 2011. Alex heads the Municipal Securities Group which provides public finance, sales, trading and underwriting services. He has over 30 years of industry experience and has been lead banker for billions of dollars in senior managed financings for large issuers in Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa and Michigan. Mr. Rorke was Managing Director at UBS (formerly PaineWebber) for fifteen years where he led the firm’s Midwest Public Finance Group. During that time period UBS frequently ranked first as senior manager in the region, including in Illinois and Kentucky. Prior to joining Hilliard, Alex headed national public finance at Loop Capital, where he was responsible for $14.4 billion in senior managed financings.
Mr. Rorke has extensive civic experience. He Co-Chaired Illinois’ Economic Recovery Commission and is a member of the Illinois Budgeting for Results Commission, Co-Chairs the Board of the Chicago Summer Business Institute which provides meaningful summer jobs to achieving inner-city youth and is a Trustee of both the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Louisville Orchestra. He has served as a Trustee of Northwestern University.
Professionally, he is a member of the Municipal Executive Committee of the Securities Industry Financial Markets Association (“SIFMA”).
Alex has a Bachelor of Science and MA degrees from Northwestern University and received his MBA from Columbia University.

Mr. Bond joined Hilliard Lyons in July 1996. He has over 19 years’ experience in the financial services industry and 16 years as a municipal underwriter and trader. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Bond was an analyst with Oxford Financial Advisors in Carmel, Indiana. He is responsible for managing municipal bond competitive and negotiated issues, and all secondary trading for the Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan and Illinois region for Hilliard Lyons. Since joining the firm, he has worked closely with the Public Finance and Institutional Sales divisions to underwrite and place over 410 Indiana transactions totaling over $2.5 billion. Mr. Bond is also responsible for the secondary market trading of all types of credits.
A native of Phoenix, Arizona, Mr. Bond has a Bachelor of Science from Arizona State University/Grand Canyon University, and is a CFA charter-holder.

Mr. Malhance joined Hilliard Lyons in Spring of 2013. He brings to the firm extensive financial experience. Prior to joining Hilliard Lyons, he served with Cook County Government as Chief Financial Officer since 2011. Mr. Malhance was responsible for the financial oversight of the second largest County in the nation with 23,000 employees and a total estimated annual budget of $3.5 billion. His experience in public-sector finance included a 25-year tenure with the City of Chicago, where he worked as Comptroller, First Deputy City Treasurer, Managing Deputy Comptroller for Debt and Asset Management, Deputy Comptroller for Financial Policy and Trustee for four of the City’s pension funds. During his tenure with the City, Mr. Malhance oversaw approximately $40 billion in debt issuance/management associated with the City’s General Obligations; Sales-Tax Revenue; O’Hare and Midway Airports; TIFs; Housing; and Water/Wastewater bonds. Other major managerial and capital markets initiatives included the first-in-the-nation $1.8 billion public-private partnership involving the Chicago Skyway; the Lease-Leasebacks of the CTA Orange Line and the 911/311 Emergency Management Systems; one of the first $900+ million municipal bond issues for O’Hare International Airport; and the bond financing for the capital construction of Millennium Park.
Before joining Cook County as its CFO, Mr. Malhance was President of UIB Capital in Chicago, a private equity subsidiary of Unicorn Investment Bank of Bahrain. In that capacity, he led UIB’s successful efforts to source, analyze and propose controlling equity investments in middle market companies in the USA, assess the viability of business plans and identify potential acquisitions, including M & A opportunities.
Mr. Malhance received his Bachelor of Science in Commerce from the University of Karachi, Pakistan; his B.S.B.A in Finance from Roosevelt University in Chicago; his MBA. from Roosevelt University; and his MA in Economics from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He also completed his coursework for a Ph.D. in Public Policy Analysis from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Mr. Sutherland joined Hilliard in 2002. Chip provides investment banking and fiscal agent services for a wide variety of clients throughout the Commonwealth including K-12 public schools, water and sewer companies, electric utilities, hospitals, cities, counties, libraries, public and private universities, and 501(c)3 entities. Since 2006, he has led over $3 billion of financings for such governmental entities.

Notable financings outside the K-12 arena include securing funding for T.J. Samson Hospital for a new $45 million medical facility and serving as financial advisor for the University of Kentucky for recent projects totaling $476 million. These projects include the renovation of Commonwealth Football Stadium, construction of a new science building, renovation to Gatton School of Business, and renovation and expansion of various UK HealthCare facilities. Additionally, he has helped the leadership of Louisville Metropolitan Sewer District craft a funding strategy that will address anticipated capital needs and enable it to continue to meet its rating standards. Throughout his tenure with the firm, Chip has been involved in excess of 200 rating agency presentations. He led Metro Louisville’s 2013 and 2014 financings totaling $112.6 million in the last two years. He has been financial advisor to the Louisville Arena Authority since 2012. He earned a Bachelor of Arts & Science degree in Economics from the University of Kentucky in 1996 and an MBA in Finance from Bellarmine University in 2001.

Mr. Boehm joined Hilliard Lyons in March 2017 as a senior vice president in the public finance group. He has nine years of experience in municipal finance and specializes in municipal and private activity bond transactions for Midwest issuers and borrowers. Boehm’s primary experience includes essential purpose and economic development financing for local government and special purpose issuers, including tax-backed bonds, revenue bonds, tax increment bonds, lease-back financing and temporary funding. Over the past 9 years working with municipal and corporate borrowers, Mr. Boehm has senior managed 150 financings for over $1.1billion.

Mr. Boehm received a bachelor’s degree in economics from DePauw University, where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He served on the board of the Parkinson Foundation of the Heartland in Kansas City, Missouri and currently serves the Ladue Chapel Presbyterian Church as an elder.

Mr. Collins has 10 years’ experience in providing financial solutions to clients based all over the United States. That base consists of many institutions throughout the U.S. and includes bank portfolios, bank trust departments, registered investment advisers, money managers, insurance companies, mutual funds and corporations. His Series 7, 66 and insurance licenses, combined with his experience in institutional fixed income, provide Mr. Collins with a well-rounded understanding of his clients’ needs. Along with being registered in more than 30 states in the U.S., he is able to provide the specialized treatment his clients demand.
Mr. Collins began his career at Advest Inc. before joining Hilliard Lyons in 2004. In his time in the industry, he has continued his education earning designations as a Chartered Wealth Advisor® and an Accredited Asset Management Specialist®. Mr. Collins attended Ohio State University and made his home in Columbus, OH before moving to Tennessee where he now lives with his wife and 2 children. He is an active member of the Rotary Foundation, which is involved in assisting multiple charitable activities across the United States.

Mr. Ferguson joined Hilliard Lyons in 1994. He currently works in our Dyersburg, Tennessee office, where he serves as a Wealth Advisor in our Institutional Municipal Sales Force. During his 20 years with the firm, Scott has been involved in every aspect of marketing and placement of both primary and secondary market municipal bonds. Scott’s client base includes municipal bond mutual funds, insurance companies, asset managers, large trust companies, large bank portfolios, community banks and trust departments, as well as high net worth individuals. In addition, his product includes regional and general market tax-free, bank qualified, and taxable municipals including BABS. From 1987 until he joined our firm, Scott worked in Municipal Sales with the National Bank of Commerce. In 1983, he received his Bachelor’s Degree from University of Tennessee at Martin and three years later, he was awarded a MA in Economics from Mississippi State University. Scott and his wife of 32 years have three adult sons.

Mr. Ruhl joined Hilliard Lyons in December, 2016. Prior to Hilliard, Mr. Ruhl gained nearly 30 years of industry experience as a public finance banker in the State of Indiana. Mr. Ruhl has served a wide range of municipal issuers including the State of Indiana, the City of Indianapolis, various public and private universities, public and private K-12 School Corporations and all levels of local municipal government issuers. Local government projects include public libraries, courthouses, judicial buildings, town/city halls, park districts, jails and juvenile centers, local public utilities and redevelopment projects with TIF. Over the last 30 years of investment banking, Mr. Ruhl has senior managed approximately 1,000 financings totaling over 4 billion of bonds. Born, raised and educated in the State of Indiana, Mr. Ruhl received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business/Finance from Indiana University Bloomington in May, 1979.

Bill has nearly 30 years experience in providing institutional fixed income solutions to a broad client base. That base consists of many institutions throughout the U.S. and includes bank portfolios, bank trust departments, registered investment advisers, money managers, insurance companies, mutual funds, corporations, municipalities, not for profit organizations and foundations. Bill has consistently been a top producer in his field at his previous places of employment which include NatCity Investments/PNC, UBS/Painewebber, City Securities Corporation and now, Hilliard Lyons.
Bill is a graduate of the Indiana University Kelly School of Business with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. A lifelong resident of Indianapolis, he is a past board member of Woodland Country Club, an active affiliate of Sigma Nu Fraternity, and has been involved in mentoring with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Central Indiana.
